Artist's Statement

As exciting an idea as I might have before I start painting, nothing beats the thrill of the painting process itself when it leads me in an unexpected direction. I work intuitively, using shapes and colors to describe a specific feeling, and it can be challenging to find the right combination. Sometimes I arrive at what seems to be a deadlock, and then, by either flipping the painting around or seeing it out of the corner of my eye from a slightly different angle, it evolves into something with an emotional clarity that transforms it entirely.

Wondering what will happen next - that's what keeps me painting.
